Letter from the President

The year 2020 has been an extraordinary and challenging one, and journalists have done extraordinary work to report on the greatest global crisis of our generation – and more. From overrun emergency rooms to streets filled with tear gas, journalists have needed to adapt and innovate to tell crucial stories from The New Frontlines.

N3Con 2020 is dedicated to sharing these stories from #TheNewFrontlines and the expertise that make them possible. With in-depth panels, workshops and talks focused on the challenges confronting Asia’s news media landscape, N3Con 2020 aims to provide journalists with the skills they need to innovate in the face of unprecedented change.

The challenges are also testing the state of free media in Asia, from Hong Kong’s national security law to government shutdown of news outlets. The  Asia-Pacific region saw the greatest rise in press freedom violations globally, according to Reporters Without Border’s World Press Freedom Index this year. Some of us have experienced this firsthand.

During these trying times, we aim to make N3Con 2020 an invaluable and accessible resource for journalists, media professionals and students everywhere. That’s why we are offering an engaging four days of programming at a nominal fee. Tickets are available for as low as US$10!

Now more than ever, we also need community and the support of the AAJA family. As a chapter, we’re also holding regular Digital N3 Salons to give the AAJA family ways to connect and engage with another. N3Con 2020 offers opportunities to connect with journalists and media professionals in Asia Pacific and beyond. If you’re not already a part of our AAJA family, we invite you to join us.

See you at N3Con 2020!

Together we rise,

Oanh
